Rainwater Harvesting

Effectively harvesting our most precious resource

Education in water wastage has improved incredibly over the last decade or so, but our consumption continues to take a great toll on our water sources.

Changes in rainfall patters over the past decade have seen water shortages in the UK and on the other end of the scale, widespread flooding due to excessive rainfall and increasing urbanisation.

The solution to these problems is not a new one; humans have been harvesting rainwater for drinking, irrigation and sanitary purposes for thousands of years and current technology allows for effective domestic and commercial rainfall harvesting.

Contemporary rainwater harvesting systems typically work by collecting rainfall from a roof and transferring it to a holding tank through the guttering system. Filtered rainwater can then be pumped from this tank for various applications including:

• Gardening
• Car washing
• Domestic and commercial laundry
• Flushing toilets
• And more besides

The use of harvested rainwater is suitable for all non-potable purposes and can greatly reduce your dependence on mains water supplies, and therefore water bills.

James Hargreaves aims to become the largest rainwater harvesting product supplier in the North West, providing systems suitable for new build properties and for retrofitting.

Precipitating change in the way we use water.
